Sängerkrieg (minstrel contest)

The 6 minstrels (in the image from left to right) Wolfram von Eschenbach, Reinmar von Zweter, Heinrich von Ofterdingen (next to the Countess), , Walther von der Vogelweide, Heinrich von Rispach and Biterolf, who is not depicted - here it is unclear if he even was a historical person. The six singers were placed before the Count and Countess of Thuringia, in order to determine who could praise the prince best. Heinrich von Ofterdingen decided to praise the Austrian duke, which made the Count angry. (he called for the hangman). But Heinrich looked out for the protection of Countess Sophia and they called out for Klingsor, a famous singer and magician to solve the problem...
